About Me

My photo
I am a multifaceted woman, living with intention and passion. I always see the glass as half full (ok, almost always). Currently into: jewelry design, glass beadmaking (aka lampworking), visual journaling, cooking and web design everything. Things that bring me great joy: my family, friends, Scrabble, British period pieces, Shabby Chic, Austin, TX, mini art tiles, autographed cookbooks, chocolate, Chianti, pedicures and beach glass. I don't "do" and/or dig: dishonesty, guilt, intolerance, unkindness, drama and goat cheese (it's a long story, but I love all the other cheeses!) So you now have a teeny tiny little picture of me, with a few warts thrown in. Welcome to my world!

Teesha Moore and "Crow" badge

I am beyond excited for my upcoming class with Teesha Moore this summer! I don't want to wish away the next couple months, but it is soooo hard when I have this fabulous piece of creative dessert out there on the horizon. I first met Teesha Moore through my friend Rebecca here in Traverse City. She was a big fan and started offering visual journal classes. She had purchased some of Teesha's "Play" artzines and I just couldn't get enough. I took her first visual journal class and was hooked. Of course I only met Teesha through her publications and website, but it was still an introduction, right? So I friended Teesha on Facebook recently and when she posted a link to this class, I was just thrilled. Since she lives in the Pacific Northwest, the chances of me getting out there for a class were pretty slim. To have her here in the midwest, well, I have no excuses, except moolah, not to take the class. And what a class! It is a three day, all day immersion of journal creating, from the actual journal itself, to creating our own journal pages combining all sorts of art mediums. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!

I've had a lot of fun shopping for my art supplies. There is a list of necessary supplies and it includes quite a few things I have never worked with, including acrylics, gel medium, fabriano paper and other interesting supplies. Dick Blick had a great free shipping offer, so that's where I got most of my goodies. I have always loved writing and collage, so the visual journal is a perfect combination of the two. I am still working on visual journal pages created with Photoshop to keep those new skills sharp, but the hands on, messy journaling is something I can scan or photograph and still manipulate further with Photoshop too.

Lastly tonight, here is a new badge, my "Crow" badge, created to commemorate my love of all things shiny and glittery.

Greektown

We had so much fun in Greektown after our day at the Eastern Market for Flower Day last weekend that I wanted to make a separate visual journal page just for Greektown. Created with Photoshop, I especially had fun cutting out the saganaki flames. Took countless photos of the "Opa!" moments, but didn't have more than one really usable photo for this project. Still, you get the view of those big flames. If you sat next to the table getting the flaming cheese, you could really feel the heat from the flames!
